Andrew Garfield is hinting to take a breather. In the past few years, the actor has been busy with several mega films such as “Spiderman”, “Tick, Tick… Boom!,” and then now the series “Under the Banner of Heaven” which is aired on Hulu. Via Variety, the actor said he wanted to take a break little bit to recalibrate, reconsider what he wanted to do next, and found himself who he wanted to be. Or, maybe Andrew Garfield just wanted to be a person for a while.
Before, Garfield made a surprise for his fan by joining the Spider-Man alum with Tobey Maguire in “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” starring Tom Holland. Before, the actor stated that he is open if he was asked to be back in Marvel Universe. However, it seems it will not be soon.
“I need to just be a bit ordinary for a while.”
The news came right after Tom Holland also revealed he wanted to step back from acting and focus on building a family.
Garfield’s schedule seems to be the main reason why he wants to take a break for a while. This includes attending ceremonial awards which are quite tiring.
In his new project, Andrew Garfield is starring Jeb Pyre in “Under the Banner of Heaven”. He is a detective who is investigating a murder case of a woman (Daisy Edgar-Jones) and her baby that was done by the congregation. The actor looks seems promising by the looks of the trailer.
This series is directed by David Mackenzie and written by Dustin Lance Black. “Under the Banner of Heaven” brings the criminal genre which is adapted from real life.
Further, the actor told Variety that filming this series is a daunting task because it is a true-life murder mystery.
“I think it was a necessity for us to have game nights and go into nature and hike and you know, swim and dive and lakes and dance and eat good food so that we could really come back and fully give ourselves [to the work],”
In the future, Andrew also wants to work with Tobey Maguire.
“I would love to work with Tobey. I mean like he’s such a great actor. And he is such a good buddy and I just love him. I love spending time with him and yeah we went saw this incredible film ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’ which is a genius, masterpiece of creativity.”
For Garfield, Maguire is someone he is admiring and he admitted that he spends his time with the actor. Both actors build a strong friendship during filming “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” Since then, both actors are often caught hanging out together.
