The EV or electric vehicle is on the rage in the last decade. A lot of companies have joined the market and try to bring the best for the customer. It includes Lexus which exhibits its new RZ. It used to be a prototype guise with a planned debut in April 2022. But, who knows that the company give another teaser on April 20th, with its magnificent 2022 Lexus RZ 450e.
Dedicated BEV Platform (Possibly Using E-TNGA)
Appear on the 20th of April Global Event broadcast online, the new teaser image and video of the new Lexus make people wonder. In general, you can say it is identical to the prototype car earlier this year. It looks beautiful and strong, but for an EV, the main key is the battery and machinery.
Among the varying teasers, there is a high possibility that the car will run with the dedicated battery Electric vehicle (BEV). It also comes with a huge potential of using Toyota platform technology, the e-Toyota New global Architecture (e-TNGA). All goes to the fact that the car looks identical to the Toyota bZ4x and Subaru Solterra.
If the prediction is true, you can expect two electric motors to move the four wheels (DIRECT4). It means the 2022 Lexus RZ 450e car is pretty strong in its efficiency and technology. Going with e-TNGA underpinning technology, you can also expect various performance and features added to the car.
Based on e-TNGA technology, the Lexus RZ may come with a 71.4 kWh battery pack. It can fire the dual motor powertrain that is very similar and used on the bz4x sibling. It is pretty much an 11-12 comparison between the two since the cars have similar looks. Even the video that shows a text drive-by Akio Toyoda indicates that the car has a DIRECT4 engine.
If the car does running with a similar powertrain design, you can expect a similar performance to its sibling (bz4x or Subaru Solterra). The 2022 Lexus RZ 450e can spout a strong 215bhp with 336 torque. With this acceleration prowess, it is safe to say that the car will reach 0-62 mph in a mere 7.7 seconds with a max range of around 280 miles.
Inside the short video by Koji Sato, the company president, gives a glance at the interior design. while it is not so clear, the car might share the same layout as the bZ4x again. It includes the high center console and has a five-seat configuration. With all of the similar strategies, designs, and intakes, you can expect the same from its exterior or the infotainment.
All in all, the car is pretty much hype in the mid of 2022. The brief and quick teaser gives a good sneak peek at its engine and specifications. There is no exact and real information yet, but Autoexpress mentioned that the car might come with the more traditional wheel design as an alternative and the yoke mechanism as the main offer. let’s just wait for the real debut.
