I’ve been writing about Benny Friedman for a very long time on this blog. I was excited early on and I’ve been waiting very patiently. Well, the time has come, the early buzz began last week with teaser banners online for the title track, Taamu Ure’u, and this morning the cover and cd description was released to the internet.

To say I’m giddy with anticipation would be a vast understatement. I just hope that the hype that has built up in my head will not make it impossible for this CD to live up to expectations. In fact, maybe I should just not expect anything good at all, this way, if it is great I’ll be that much more blown away.

Here is the super rad cover, complete with crown heights representing, on the cover!

Here is a video I was sent last night with Benny Friedman cleverly singing Mi Adir at a recent wedding to Shwekey’s smah hit (and current life of rubin favorite song) Vehi Sheamdah. Follow Benny at Twitter, he posts regularly.

I’m told we will have a special video promo by the end of the week which will feature audio from the new CD.

Here is the info that arrived in my inbox this morning.

CD Cover: Sruly Meyer

The long awaited debut album is almost here!

Presented by Sameach Music and produced by Avi Newmark, this has been one of the most anticipated albums in recent memory, featuring 12 tracks sure to satisfy all musical palettes.

A variety of talented artists team up to bring you this masterful musical production. Selections include compositions from such famed composers as Yitzy Waldner and Elimelech Blumstein, and relative newcomers like Meshulum Greenberger and Oriel Avraham. Arrangers range from Good ol’ Mona and Moshe Laufer to the always incredible Leib Yaakov Rigler and Avremi G, along with some great surprises from Ian Freitor, the album’s engineer.

The Friedman/Marcus families showcase some very strong talent with three compositions, including the title track, Taamu, composed by Shmuel Marcus, an incredible piece of music sure to take your breath away composed by Simche Friedman, and a Bentzi Marcus composition featuring a duet with 8th Day! Rabbi Manis Friedman, Benny’s father, collaborates with Lipa Schmeltzer to compose a Yiddish lyric that will at once force you to look inward, while causing your feet to move with the beat!

A special musical tribute was composed by Yitzy Spinner in memory of Izzy Taubenfeld, the founder of Sameach Music.

As an added bonus, the cover art and the CD jacket and all the corresponding art was all designed by the undisputed king of Jewish Music design, Sruly Meyer!

Keep an eye on JewishJukebox.com for an official release date coming very soon!

i was ata wedding where Benny sang Mi Adir to the tune of his Chasoif Zeroiacho. It was heart-stoppingly beautiful. Maybe they can send you a video of that!!!

i do not like the album cover at all from all perspectives

What is “super rad” about the cover? What am I missing?

Nice. Thank god he has a beard and has his Tzisis out like a normal Jewish singer (or at least the way a Jewish singer should look) unlike the way OTHER singers look, with NO BEARD etc.

Benny has the future of Jewish music in his hands, all the other WANNABEES should give up now…stop copying MBD & Fried, cuz they are the real stuff.

The CD cover with walking in the street is totally not original – the kornfelds have used it in the past, and there is a full street image on Avraham Fried’s bein kach CD.

The crumpled paper makes it look like a bad scan, not a photo artists effect.

Besides, the whole concept of putting a picture of one’s self on a CD is basically saying: we can’t make a design, so we will just stick the singer on the cover, kind of like what we see on concert CD’s.

About the actual album – i can’t say i’m dying to hear it, but it sounds pretty good on the youtube video that was posted (why wasn’t it posted here? you didn’t see it yet?)

anyway, thanks for all updates, how you get hold of this no on knows!
