What is happening in Israel? What? What dark path are these people leading down?

A few streets over the extremists organized an anti-protest gathering full of hate. It was a very small group but made a lot of noise and “sinas chinom” was felt in the air. One of the speakers had the nerve to announce “even Chabad rabbis requested that they cancel the event.”

Ironically, precisely at this anti-protest by the guardians of tzniut one could see the “pritzus” and mingling of men and women together without any demarcation (see gallery below).

A Shturem reporter who came to cover their event was attacked both verbally and physically but still managed to record and film what they said.

“At one point I was surrounded by a mad mob whose eyes were filled with hate and I felt I was in the “kasba” of Nablus,” the photographer said. “After the speakers incited the people the mob started screaming “Gevald” and started burning trashcans and throwing stones in the direction of the Simchas Beis Hashoeva celebration.

This demonstration was officially called to protest the violation of tznius but most of the time the talk evolved around smearing Chabad and the Rebbe.

One innocent young man who is involved in Hafotsas Hammayonos all year around came to the event with his family not being aware that there was any controversy around it. As soon as he arrived to the area his car was surrounded by an angry mob who started pounding on the roof of his car with their eyes full of hate. The little children in the car became frightened and began to cry. (full story)

They are the ones becoming like a cult. It’s THESE people who are destorying Yiddishkeit. It’s these crazies that would rather make fires and curse you, then celebrate at a time when the highest celebrations were held in the Beis Hamikdash. What they are doing is not Judaism. What is happening there is not MY RELIGION. It’s a bunch of thugs who will attack anyone who doesnt do as they say. They should be ashamed, and any Torah leader in Israel who is part of these “bans” who don’t fully condemn these thugs and sonei yisroel should also be ashamed.

Only the biggest nerds on the net join Twitter …. and I guess I’m one of them. Basically the reason I joined Twitter is the original reason I started blogging. I want to have a place to write my two cents on things. As time has passed since I started blogging, I like less and less blogging about “small’ things. I feel that if I’m gonna blog something - it should have some meat to it, some research, some actual original opinions. It shouldn’t just be copy and pasted from other places.

Anyway, that was a long winded intro for me to just say I joined Twitter. Check it out, follow if you want, don’t expect any life altering posts, just inconsequential little observations. It’s short and sweet and often pointless. In other words, should be fun, and I’m looking forward to updating it as often as possible. If you have a Twitter let me know, add me, I’ll add you, etc, etc.

I’ve been reading the comments section at YW and I think for the most part people are over reacting. Thankfully, there are commenter’s both here and there that understand this isn’t anything more then what it was. An overzealous and probably anti semitic city building inspector and neighbor. Some of these comments are just - um - just - I don’t know even know how ti describe them.

“I strongly object to the language and terminology being used here. Fired, Suspended, Admonished. It is not a Jewish middah to seek the blood of our (non-lethal) enemies. Since when have Jews become like the, ahem, ‘’minority”’ groups of the ilk of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson that seek to inflict damage on others? That is not the methodology of Jews.

Protect and fight for our rights. But do not demand someone be ‘’fired.’’ We are in golus. Our modus operendi throughout our long and painful exile, has been to quitely take care of things with a bisel gelt — if thats what it takes our enemies to go away — and move on. It usually works, unlike the JDL violence/threats style
that almost always backfires.”

It starts off good, but somehow ends up in stereotype land.

Here’s someone who thinks they were in the wrong.

“I AM AN ORTHODOX JEW FROM THE LOS ANGELES AREA!
The city of Los Angeles is not Nazi Germany. This was not an unfounded event. A huge chilul hashem was made by Jews breaking the law. The law is the law, we can change it through the democratic channels offered to us, but we cant just break the law and when we face the reprecussions of breaking the law scream anti-semitism!”

I’m still on the fence. I do think someone should get in trouble, but fired? I don’t know, suspended w/o pay, forced to go into sensitivity training, and definitely pulled off this case (and any others involving religion) but if you think firing this one person will change anything your wrong. There are many many more of these types of people on zoning commissions and building code agencies.

What do you think?

How he described the song “V’lo” is how I felt about the entire album.

“V’lo is a three-part that doesn’t really flies. The song is weird, the arrangement is confusing and the ending is very poor. Even Pruzanski couldn’t make this sound at least decent. “

Read the review here.

An album I am liking is this CD. I might write a review on it, but I have a lot of reviews in the backup queue. (hear the preview here)

I’ll just have to publish them here.

I have no problem with comment moderation, I use it here myself. It’s his blog, and thats fine with me. His blog, his rules.

This comment is in reference to a disgusting comment where a racist word was used.

“Have a little respect. The Mayor does tremendous good for the Yidden in L.A., he has a very long, very good history there with the Jewish community. He didn’t have anything to do with the incident, yet he has more then answered for it and responded very good. Someone will probably lose their job, worse they have been called out and embarrassed by their superiors all the way up to the mayor.

What I can’t believe is the use of the word “colored”, an incredibly incendiary term that went out of style more then 50 years ago. We want people to be tolerant of Yidden but then you use such racist word? If we want respect then we have to show it as well.”

I’m not sure why the comment wasn’t allowed to go through, other then he doesn’t like me. Which is fine, like I said, everyone is entitled to their own opinions and self governing blog rule book. I just wanted my comment known, so I’m posting it here.

Rabbi Shapira Hospitalized

(IsraelNN.com) Rabbi Avraham Elkana Kahana Shapira, former Chief Rabbi of Israel and the Rosh Yeshiva of Mercaz HaRav Yeshiva, the flagship of religious Zionism, was hospitalized today. The rabbi was reported to be in ill health since last week, but today his condition has worsened.

Last week, thousands of students and admirers of the rabbi, who is 90 years old, gathered at the Western Wall in Jerusalem’s Old City to pray for his speedy recovery.

Although heavy pressure is being applied on leaders of Chabad in Jerusalem to cancel the annual Simchas Beis Hashoeva in Jerusalem this Sukkos, Shturem.net has been informed that that the event will take place as scheduled.

In the past few weeks there have been intense meetings and messages sent back and forth between Rabbi Yitzchok Meir Spernowitz and Rabbi Mordechai Blau, leaders of the Committee for the Purity of the Camp and Chabad leaders in Jerusalem Rabbi Naftali Roth and his son Rabbi Noam Roth organizers of the Simchas Beis Hashoeva.

The negotiations began after several leading rabbis in the Chareidi camp called on the public not to take part in the Simchas Beis Hashoeva events this year as a strategic move to do away with completely with concerts that bring to immodesty.

It is inconceivable that because of a few people who act irresponsibly tens of thousands of people should be deprived of participating in this great mitzvah, the Chabad organizers say, “especially since some of the rabbis who are calling to ban the Simchas Beis Hashoeva have received false and deceitful information that the event lacks Tznius etc.

Today posters have been hung up calling upon every single member of Anash and Jews from all over to come and participate in this great custom. The event will take place Thursday night at Shikun Chabad in Jerusalem.

The organizers have also drawn up a special poster with a diagram showing exactly the demarcation zones between men and women and are calling on the public to heed the call to observe the rules of Tznius.

Informed sources have told Shturem.net that the organizers are outraged at the attempt to prevent the event from taking place. “This is just another war that anti-Chabad individuals have decided to wage against Chabad. “Therefore we call upon each and every Chabad chosid to come and take part of event, and to strengthen the simcha,” they told Shturem.net.

“We have a Rebbe,” says Rabbi Naftoli Roth, “the Simcha Beis Hashoeva events have always taken place with the blessings and encouragement of the Rebbe and it is inconceivable that we will cancel them this year because in the past there have been several individuals who did not behave accordingly.”

Rabbi Roth added that all the rules of “tznius” will be imposed very stringently and a special pamphlet has been published for this purpose. (link)

If it were up to them we would all hide in our homes and cover our eyes and ears. Except of course to come out and burn down the occasional store selling non kosher or untzinus clothing.

I don’t know if you could call GQ “media” but a killed story is a killed story. I wonder if they would have been so quick to kill a negative story about someone on the Right.
