I love this post over at DovBear’s blog, but it’s not written by DovBear. It’s written by one of Da Boys from my favorite new blog DaBoysof905.

It’s a very mature and intelligent post about dealing with the President’s proposed troop surge in Iraq. I must say it’s refreshing to hear ideas rather then the usual negativity, whining & obstructionism that is rampant on the left.

Instead of the “no’s, never’s and that won’t works”, if they only had more “but here’s what we CAN or SHOULD do …”, then maybe the Left would have a fighting chance at taking back the White House in ‘08. Despite some politicians best efforts at making sure the White House stays in the GOP’s hands.

Today is the last day of January, and so closes the first JBlog Awareness Month. I personally want to thank everyone who jumped on board and added to it. I personally found at least 6 new blogs that I now check daily. I hope you found some new blogs too.

Here is my final official roundup, but remember, just because J.B.A.M is over, doesn’t mean we can’t continue to post links to new blogs and always try to promote J-Blogs.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
First up is a blog that I found through J.B.A.M. and really love. Frum Satire has the full list of “Ridiculous questions for shidduch background checks
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Here is another new blog I found through this months J.B.A.M, and personally I happen to think it’s one of the best new blogs to come around in a while. It’s a group blog and it’s just fun to read. Check out this post which covers exactly who they are and tthey are all about.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Orthomom has a very disturbing story about anti-semitic PSA’s on Indian trains.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Jewish Blogmeister has the update on the new Ohad CD which you can now order at Sameach’s website. Still no sample clips though, other than this one.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A Simple Jew has some very beautiful paintings up at his blog this morning.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

SoccerDad has a new edition of “If you Haven’t Read … Then You Must!”

There seems to be a lot going on right now musically.

I’m looking forward to the Ohad album, I hope it’s good. I’m sure I’ll end up getting the Shwekey album, so I’ll do some sort of semi-review of both of those eventually.

I meant to post this a couple days ago. I loved this post on the Boro Park stare, it’s one of those things I always get and always mean to blog about but never do. I get it all the time, but with the added sting in their eyes because I’m of the Lubabvitch persuasion. If you don’t look exactly like them then you’ve probably been the victim of The Stare. It could be from little boys playing in the park, a swarm of girls crossing the street, or a pack of married women pushing a collection of triple strollers.

I’m always saddened by the lack of manners and basic civility in Boro Park. It’s a shame that people who strive to be so stringent in their observance lack basic Ahavas Yisroel. The fact that this comes from children is even worse because not only is this attitude among the adults but it’s being taught to their children ensuring that these judgemental stares and attitudes will carry on for another generation.

Do you have a good Boro Park Stare story? (HT Jacob Da Jew via FrumSatire)

I really must say that each video newscast gets better and better. It’s 30 minutes of entertaining news and shtick. My only critique would be to tone down the O’Reilly’isms. If you want to skip ahead past the Chabad and Crown Heights news skip to the 11 minute mark.

Oh and one more thing. This blog was mentioned on the newscast. For all you loyal readers who just want to see my plug, skip ahead to 22:40 in the show. He called me prestigious and articulate. (Ya hear that Ma! I’ve amounted to something!)

Thanks Mendy and keep up the great work.

I like to keep things fresh with the season. Since we finally had a semi real snow last night. I wanted to grab a picture before the sun melted it. This is the original picture. I took it this morning on Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights in Brooklyn, NY.

You can see the old headers here.

“It was awful - there was smoke, pieces of flesh all over the place” - Benny Mazgini

This is such a horrible thing. It’s just a tragic reminder of how fragile things are in Eretz Yisroel. The murderers behind this are simply put, animals. There is no defense, I don’t care how sad, displaced, desperate, or whatever other word liberals like Jimmy Carter try to use to describe them are.

There is no defense for people who do this kind of horrible, horrible, heinous, evil crime. You just don’t walk into a bakery with people buying coffee and danishes and blow yourself up. Thats not how human beings are supposed to act.

This is so funny I couldnt stop laughing.

  • The messiest and shlumpiest of men can be rest assured they will get a hot wife
  • The women don’t have to wear those stupid turbans
  • They also don’t have to shave their heads
  • They don’t deny their pasts like many BT’s
  • Sukkah mobiles can pimp out the worst of cars
  • Lubavitchers have hobbies and interests other then banning things
  • They don’t feel the need to ban something every week
  • Can you pass the Mashka
  • Chabad houses have good reading material
  • Campus chabad houses have hot chicks and free food
  • Making fun of meshichists provides one with hours of entertainment
  • Turf wars between Aish and Chabad are rather interesting

I’m not going to repost the whole thing, so your just gonna have to clickity click on over to FrumSatire and read the whole awesome list.

My new pal Sholom mentioned to me that I must be racking my brains to find a way to top last weeks amazing Haveil Havalim theme. You know what? Nope, I’m not even gonna try. There is no way I could top that. But I do want to try to do something different, so this week the posts will all be done in alphabetical order, by the bloggers name. Think of it as the ABC’s of the J-Blog community. It’s also a great way to meet some of the bloggers by their actual names. Instead of just knowing them by their blogs.

We are looking to hold them sometime in May, but this year it’s a Jblogger run event. You are all invited to be a part of this and contribute something, anything. E-mail me to join the google discussion group and be a part of one of the committees.

As for my posts I’d have submitted if Haveil Havalim was somewhere else this week. I wrote two great posts on Friday. One about the public clothing burning in Israel and another about MBD’s 5 Million Dollar lawsuit against Gal Paz music.

Classmate Wearing Yarmulka presents some video from his recent Ski Trip in Vale (and I’m not jealous at all!)

D
DaBoysof905 blog, a new favorite blog of mine, has an excellent post regarding the Modern Orthodox Single crisis.

I just want to use the D here to thank DAVID of SoccerDad for creating Haveil Havalim, an amazing tool for meeting new bloggers and finding some really amazing posts coming out of the Jewish Blogosphere. Thanks for the opportunity to host this wonderful weekly tradition.

That might be true because his blog is laced with profanities, and he has some pretty extreme posts on his blog on a wide selection of topics, but you know what? Despite all that, what I find amazing is that he is still hanging out with us. That’s the power of the Jewish Blogging community, even the “extreme”, our self titled anarchist Jbloggers, still call themselves Jewish bloggers. So yes, you may be out there, and 90 percent of your blog might insult me on every possible level. But your part of the family, love it or hate it.
