What’s up with this?

A few weeks ago I stumbled upon a button maker site. In my short sighted wisdom I decided to only make one button. I made a LIFE-OF-RUBIN button, which can be found on the right hand side of this blog. The next day I wanted to make another button, but didn’t remember the address.
Last night I re-found that site. I love it, I have gone button crazy, button happy, button nuts. I made tons of buttons. I replaced the bulky large banners with buttons, and the buttons sit there so neat and look so good I don’t mind having tons of them. It’s like when you get one of those Brother label makers, you start labeling everything in your house.

So ya, long story short, anyone who wants to use any of the buttons I made please go ahead. Feel free to take as many as you want. Or better yet, make your own buttons. Make one for your blog, for your friends blog, for your secondary blog, make one for your email, your flickr, your myspace. Go nuts, make ten!

Speaking of icons, make sure to add this one too somewhere on your blog.

UPDATE: Article here.

An 11 year old girl dies in car accident in Monsey.

The levayah will take place @ 7 pm in Monsey Bais Olam 306 and Brick (source)

I would use the words heart breaking yet again, but over the last couple of weeks between these horrible tragedies and the tragedies in Eretz Yisroel, the words heart breaking just dont seem to cut it anymore.

Zol Shoin Zein Di Geulah!

Pictures are so powerful, they can really capture so much more than words sometimes.
There are more incredible photos at CrownHeights.Info.

I’m sure Shmais will also have a gallery up later today.

Remember when I wrote this post? Well, here is the story of a truly special person.

Waldemar Kaminski, who quietly ran a food stand in Broadway Market for more than 50 years, has been revealed to be a self-made millionaire and philanthropist who anonymously gave millions to Buffalo charities and neighbors in need.

He died at home Wednesday night from complications of a long illness. He was 88.

“He didn’t want anyone to know him, but I just had to thank him,” said Anne Gioia, co-founder of the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, to which Kaminski donated several million dollars. “Now I think we should shout it from the rooftops.”

(The Rebbe Davening At the Ohel)

Today is Gimmel Tamuz, the 3rd day of the Hebrew month of Tammuz. It’s the day The Lubavitcher Rebbe passed away. Even 12 years later to write those words it’s painful. I’m hoping to write a post later today with some of my own thoughts on this day, but for now here is a roundup of J-Blogs writing on this day.

I would really recommend taking the time to read through some of them. Even if you are not Lubavitch or a fan of Lubavitch or even if you arent even religious. The Rebbe was a special person and we should all take a few moments to just read a bit about his legacy and his life.
If anyone is in the NY/NJ region today I can’t recommend strongly enough the experience of going to visit a Tzadiks Kaiver. Especially in these tumultuous months and the horrifying events unfolding in Eretz Yisroel. The world could use as many Bracha’s as possible.

J-Bloggers Roundup of The Rebbe’s Yartzeit.

Jack, so was I. While I didn’t necessarily favor disengagement, I didn’t oppose it either. I stayed Blorange on the subject, holding out for slimerest of hope that maybe, just maybe, some good would come from it. Sadly, I was wrong, as were so many of us. This has only led them to be even stronger both arms wise and propaganda and more able to hurt us from even closer locations. Israel MUST have a swift and might response.

This is another shocking look at how the media treats one side of this conflict different than the other. The evidence is mounting and piling yet there is little we can do.

“This “Israeli Soldier” is a 19 year old kid.

Yet somehow the AP & Reuters can’t get themselves to call him a “youth”, or “19 year old member of” (as they do for the Arab terrorist in this photo caption on the same day) or any other of those humanizing words they use to describe the Arab Terrorists. Nope he’s not a human to the MSM…just a “soldier”.

On the topic of the MSM dehumanizing the Israelis:

Remember that “settler” that was kidnapped by the Arab “Resistance”…that evil, blood sucking, usurper; “settler”?…that the MSM dehumanizes & can only describe as a “settler” (as opposed to the Arabs that the MSM describes as “student”, “religous students”, “youth”, “children”, “small kids on their way to the hospital”, etc.)

Well here is a picture of the “Evil Creature”

He sure looks like an horrible/non human/evil creature to me
/ SARC!”

Oh man, my mother would freak out from this headline, but alas, it was not me. I should get the hard copy laminated for my office.
This can’t be a good start for the Lakewood Shomorim head, and of course goes without saying a horrible Chillul Hashem. Friends and neighbors, please. Can we just follow the law? Is this so hard? Why do we think we are above it simply because we are frum. It’s just wrong.

This is gonna really hurt those google search results for my name ….

Chabad of the Berkshires (that’s Massachusetts by the way) is having its First Annual Jewish Music Festival. The concert will feature Greg Wall and M- Generation, which performed at last years Chabad Telethon in California. (Link here)

Wanna be an extra on an Internet sitcom? The online show is filming a scene at a Bar Mitzvah with a … umm.. dancer. Ya, that’s what it says, no typo there. (Link here)

Two teenage girls trick a man they meet on MySpace into meeting them so they can rob him.
What has this world come to? I mean, these girls were 14 and 15 years old! (Link here)

Thanks to Harry’s strong recommendation, I am now almost finished with Season 1 of Battlestar Galactica. Why am I telling you this? Other than wanting to publicly thank Harry, I thought people would like to know that not only is this a really amazing show. But like Lost it has some very serious religious themes to it. They are even more on the surface than Lost. I think one of the shows main themes is basicly about believing in G-d. (Link here)

Need to fly somewhere? Don’t want to spend a lot? use FareTracker. It predicts when fares will be high or low. I’ll be trying this out very soon. (Link here) (HT LH)

On a more serious note, go to Yourish for updates on the Gaza strikes. Apparently the AP has already decided Israel is causing a “Humanitarian Crisis” in Gaza … wow … the press hates us so much and this is without us even trying. Could you imagine if we tried to not be liked?

Speaking of Media that hates Israel, Batya has reason to be outraged by CNN, like we all do every day, read about that here. Batya, be glad you don’t get CNN, it’s a bracha.
